I went down to Ambleside on Tuesday with Harold to look for somewhere for the Hoffman to live when he comes over and had a really good day! realised how much i miss the chilled out lifestyle of Aside and it got me thinking about all the places i’d lived in down there never mind all the places i’d slept in!!
First year i lived in the mighty Helvellyn with all the outdoor studs. I was telling some teaching students the other day about how all the students used to be segregated into different halls according their course until our year and possibly the year after with Sam Wally and his crew when they decided to mix the students to prevent the rivalry developing, mainly between helvellyn and fairfield.
Second year i lived in Uldale with Bob, Joe and Ian which was quite a mix of personalities haha but i enjoyed it and got along with all of them. i still park outside of there when i go down because it’s free parking! I had a look in the other day and it was all being redecorated, they’d knocked down the wall to the kitchen, probably taken out the slot machine you had to use to have the electricity on too lol!!
Between 2nd and 3rd year i lived with Toddy for a couple of weeks, possibly illegally i don’t think the landlord knew about me squating, and then moved to the flats above kd sports/adventure peaks which was an interesting place to live! there was 3 flats one on each floor, i had the bottom one above the shop that had big bay window looking over the town centre and i used to dance to it with a bit of futureheads on or something/ get changed haha. spent a lot of time with Jacko that summer watching the Ashes/ going to sporties
Then in 3rd year i moved to the Ambleside ghetto of millans park just off Compton/ compston street ambleside and lived with Jacques, Bob, Geordie, Liz and Terrie…….which again was a big mix of personalities but i enjoyed it again and remember watching a lot of topgear, spooks and rugby with bob and jacques. It was also the host to the first few games of the 2006 world cup when meĀ and byron cruised down and watched the tv in the front garden with the sun beaming down. good times
